This event will be the first Summit between the Mekong region and Korea and is the result of continued cooperation since its first ministerial meeting in 2011. This represents the ever-expanding cooperation between the Mekong region and Korea and the Korean government’s strong commitment to the New Southern Policy.
This year’s meeting will serve as an opportunity to evaluate the 10 years of Mekong-Korea relations and discuss ways for future cooperation so that the Miracle on the Han River can lead to the Miracle on the Mekong River. It will also pave the way for mutual growth by enhancing concrete collaboration that meets local needs and strengthening the capacity of the Mekong countries. Building on these measures, Korea hopes to develop the Mekong-Korea relations into a people-centered partnership of peace and prosperity.
